An Asura named Analasura, the son of Yama, could burn or scorch anything with the fire emitting from his eyes. The Devatas tried to stop him but could not. When Lord Ganesha learned of this, he rushed to the ashram, swallowed Analasura in one gulp, and ended the distress caused to the pure and pious.
